What Can You Actually Solve in a Home Organising Power Hour?
Helen Dear · Oct 6 · 2 min read
Sometimes you do not need someone in the house for a full day. You need an experienced pair of eyes, a decision on what to tackle first and a plan that stops you wandering from cupboard to cupboard making everything temporarily worse.
That is what my Power Hour is for.
What is a home organising Power Hour?
It is a focused call where we look at one problem properly. You show me the room, storage or layout, explain what is driving you mad and I help you work out what needs to change.
The session is particularly useful if you are happy to do the practical sorting yourself but keep getting stuck on the plan.
What can we use the hour for?
-
Working out where to start with an overwhelming room.
-
Replanning a kitchen, utility room, wardrobe or home office.
-
Deciding what should move between rooms.
-
Creating family drop zones for bags, shoes, paperwork or school kit.
-
Reviewing storage before you spend money on more containers.
-
Planning a declutter before a house move or renovation.
-
Looking at a room that needs to do more than one job.
-
Creating a practical order of work for a wider whole-home reset.
What happens before the call?
I will usually ask you for a few photos or a short video so I can see the space in advance. That means we can spend the hour solving the problem rather than using half of it while you explain which cupboard is behind which door.
What happens during the hour?
We identify the real problem first. It may be excess volume, awkward storage, poor layout, unclear categories or simply that the system does not match your routine. Then we decide what should live where, what needs sorting and what order to tackle things in.
I can also suggest storage products when they are genuinely useful, but I will not send you off to buy twenty baskets before we know what needs containing.
What do you leave with?
A clear priority list, practical next steps and a much better idea of what the finished system needs to do. Depending on the project, I may also point you towards storage options or suggest whether an in-home organising day would save you more time.
Who is it particularly useful for?
Power Hours work well for people outside my usual in-home area, busy clients who want to make progress themselves, anyone preparing for renovation or a move, and households where the problem is more about layout and systems than the physical sorting.
The point is clarity, not cramming a whole house into sixty minutes
I would rather solve one problem properly than give you a frantic list of fifty generic decluttering tips. The aim is that you finish the call knowing exactly what to do next.
Sort & Order Power Hours are available remotely, so you can use one whether you are in Tring, elsewhere in Hertfordshire or much further away. If you have one room that keeps defeating you, send me a few details and we can decide whether a Power Hour is the right fit.
